It is important to set aside some time each day to focus on yourself. This will allow you to get in touch with your goals and emotions so that you can carve a clear path ahead. Fortunately, self love doesn’t need to be complicated. In fact, here are 17 things that you can do in the next 5 minutes to instantly feel loved.
Believe it or not, tea have some mystical properties. There is something about these leaves that once soaked can calm the soul and makes you feel warm. That in itself is the same feeling as love. Some of my favorite teas are Morrocan Mint Tea and Chamomile Tea. These can instantly make me feel loved even on a very stressful day.
It also doesn’t hurt to stop what you are doing and just sit still and focus on yourself. Meditation is magical because it resets your cluttered mind so that you can focus on the present better. Also, it is not that hard to do. You can do it by simply disengaging, playing some calming music and closing your eyes. This is often enough to allow you to witness your thoughts. Count Your Breath
If you don’t have the time or the space for meditation, you can always count your breath no matter what you are doing. This is as simple as breathing in and out and counting each breath from 1 to 10. Once you reach 10, you can always start again at 1. You can do this while staring at your computer screen or as you are driving.
Affirm Yourself in the Mirror
If you are feeling a little insecure about yourself, this trick will really make your day. All it takes is a trip to the bathroom mirror with 5 positive traits that you see in yourself. First, think about 5 things that you love about yourself. Then, look at the mirror and tell yourself how amazing you are. This can always boost your confidence.
Eat a Fruit
Also, I noticed that eating anything that comes from the earth can also make you feel connected to it. The easiest way to do this is to eat a fruit. You may not feel like eating a fruit at first but then you will not be able to get enough of it once you start eating. The best part about this is that it is also good for your body.
Watch an Inspiring Video
Don’t you have one of those days when you just feel so down? In those days, an inspiring video may just be the medicine that you need. This is true especially for those days that you are losing motivation or feeling low. I usually watch some TED talks if I want a motivation boost or some inspiring videos from Nick Vujicic if I am feeling a little depressed.
Massage Your Feet
Feeling tired? Treat yourself to a foot massage without paying for anything. Simply take out your favorite lotion or oil and massage your feet. Take the time to press on your toes and apply the right pressure to the soles of your feet. For an extra bonus, you can even put on some socks after. It will make you feel loved afterwards.
Listen to Inspiring Music
If you need an energy boost, you may just need some inspiring music to keep you going. As for me, I always listen to the positive music of Karen Drucker. It allows me to connect with my soul and allow the Divine to work in my life. You may also like Ken Waters’ inspiring fitness related music.
Light Some Scented Candles
You can also light some scented candles for a quick wind-down. I always keep some peppermint candles in my room so that I have something to light when I come home to relax. The good thing about these candles is that it sets the mood for relaxation. Not only does it fill the air with relaxing aromas, it also dims the light to set you into the mood for rest.
Lather on Some Essential Oils
If aromatherapy relaxes you, you may want to have some essential oils. My favorite is peppermint and I make sure to have it with me wherever I go. When I am at work, I would put a drop of these on my wrists or temples and it will instantly relax me. You can also use it to massage your back for instant relaxation.
Put On Some Calming Music
You can also set the mood for relaxation by putting on some calming music. These days, we already have mobile phones that can play these sounds while you drink your tea and relax. There are hundreds of calming meditation music on Youtube. My favorite is this.
Eat What You Are Craving
If you are feeling deprived due to over disciplining yourself or over organization, you may just need to let yourself loose for a while. As for me, I do this by simply eating what I am craving. You see, cravings are your body’s way of telling you what you need. If you obey the craving, you are one with your body. Note that I am not saying that you should give in to every craving that comes your way. Balance is key. Do this every once in awhile and you’ll be fine.
Take a Quick Walk Outside
For an extra boost of energy, a walk outside may be the thing that you need. This works better if you live or work in a nearby park or anywhere that has nature in it. This way, you can just take a walk and just sit for a few minutes before heading back. I find that this activity usually resets my mind and helps me become more productive in my work.
Take a Bath
Baths can help too. There is something about showering or immersing your body in water that heals it. For extra relaxation, you can even put a cup of epsom salt in your bath before the soak. This will clear your skin off impurities. Some people even use bath bombs to create a relaxing atmosphere in their bathroom. Take your time. This time is for you.
Let Your Thoughts Go
If you feel that your chest is going to explode because of the emotions that you are feeling, it is time to let all the thoughts go by writing it down. You can do this by writing it in a notebook or typing it in a document. If you want to talk to someone, you can write a letter to that person. If you are feeling angry or frustrated, let all of those feelings down on paper. You will be surprised on how good you feel afterwards.
Be a Tree
For a quick rest from work, simply stand up from your desk and be a tree. In here, you can close your eyes and put your hands on your chest to feel your heart pumping. From here, you can also do some balancing yoga poses like the Tree Pose, Lord of the Dance Pose or the Half Moon pose. Stay there for a minute or two each side. That is all there is to it.
Also, you may just need to express yourself on paper. You can do this by drawing something. You don’t have to be an artist to do this. All you have to do is draw what you feel. It can be anything. As long as you manage to express yourself, then it is good.
You can do some of these self love rituals by themselves or with each other. The goal here is simple. It is to do something for yourself to be happy.
It is important to remember that happiness cannot be sought outside of ourselves. Instead, we
must actively seek it inside by performing regular self love rituals like these. It is time to take responsibility for your happiness. Take the time for self love.
